It was Rachel’s first weekend out with friends in Austin. She had just moved for her job in public relations at the University of Texas at Austin. A friend—also from Penn State—invited her to go out and meet up with a bunch of other Penn State Alum. Rachel was super excited to venture out in Austin and mix and mingle!
It was that very night that the chatty, bubbly Rachel met Chas, a handsome, charming fella who also attended Penn State and had recently moved to Austin. They immediately hit it off, and within a week, the couple found themselves on their first date.
Their relationship had serendipitous beginnings: BOTH of them equally loved watching Penn State sports and Chas had no dog (which would have been an issue with Rachel’s skittish cat). Their lives eventually merged together, and a beautiful relationship formed.
Chas planned an intimate proposal for Rachel. Knowing Rachel LOVES sweets, he organized for the roof of their apartment building to be reserved for them. They live downtown on Riverside with stunning views of Town Lake and the sky line. Waiting for them was champagne and cake and, of course, the sweetest proposal.
As she got ready, Rachel radiated complete JOY. She beamed ear to ear, soaking up each moment as it unfolded. The day began with their First Look. The excitement Rachel and Chas had when they saw each other was palpable. Very quickly, we headed out for couple’s portraits. Our backdrop: Prospect House. It has stunning modern architecture coupled with the rolling hill country views. Their wedding was a sight to behold.
Their ceremony saw an Irish hand-tying ceremony, lots of beaming smiles, and a rain shower of lavender on Rachel and Chas as they celebrated their first moment down the aisle as husband and wife. I love the soft dusty blues the couple chose to decorate with! For their wedding favors, they sent their guests home with treats for cats, dogs, or humans. How incredibly sweet is that?!
One of my absolute favorite points in a wedding day is the toasts. I LOVE hearing stories. Sometimes there are some real surprises. Mostly I love seeing the other dimensions about these incredible people I have been photographing. I learned that Chas was accidentally punched by the guy who would end up being his close friend and best man at his wedding. I learned that Rachel loves celebrating birthdays (and made a point to sing and give a present to one of her bridesmaids that day). And I learned that Rachel loves animals, especially felines with special needs. 🙂
It was so clear how proud Rachel and Chas’s parents are of them! Don’t even get me started on their grandparents!! I don’t think I have seen such a FUN group of grandparents get DOWN on the dance floor! There were other sweet moments with their grandparents beyond the dance floor that were so moving for me to capture.
Rachel and Chas, thank you so very much for having me capture your day! It was absolutely beautiful and I am beyond thrilled for you!
