I might be just a smidge partial to Kelly and Arun’s how-we-met story–it involves two teachers who met and fell in love!! In 2010, Kelly was recruited from Michigan to teach math at Lee High School in Houston, Texas. Arun was also teaching math at Lee High School, and the minute he laid eyes on Kelly, he said, “You must’ve been a square in a past life, because you have all the right angles.” Just kidding!! He totally did not say a cheesy math pun (no matter how awesome I think that would have been)! Instead, he was a little more roundabout in his efforts to get Kelly’s attention.
Even though there was copy machine conveniently located near his classroom, Arun felt compelled to venture all the way across the school and up the stairs to the copy machine that just happened to be right across from the cute new math teacher’s room. There he hiked, each day for one week, making copies in this distant copy room, working up the nerve to ask Kelly out. He finally did, and their love has been going on and on like the number pi. (Sorry—I can’t help myself!!)
The two are getting married this summer in Michigan, and on a romantic whim, Arun decided he wanted to plan a Texas engagement session for Kelly. He particularly wanted to incorporate bluebonnets to emphasize their love for Texas while they marry out of state. Arun traveled from New York where he is completing dental school, and drove with Kelly to Austin from Houston because they wanted the flowers Central Texas has to offer. Arun led us to the stunningly beautiful Turkey Bend Park where he laid out a blanket and the two shared champagne on the shore of the lake.
