Megan & Aaron’s Wedding at Vista West Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas

When Megan first laid eyes on Aaron, he was on stage rocking out with a group. A brief encounter between them actually left her unimpressed, as she got the feeling that Aaron was the type of person who thought he was “all that.” They were both at a summer camp for children with special needs, and the year was 2012. In 2014, their paths crossed again at a mutual friend’s home, and Megan struck up conversation with him, recalling their encounter two years earlier. Eager to impress her, Aaron insisted he remembered meeting her. However, he later confessed that this was a little white lie. The connection was made though, and the two spent a magical first date talking and laughing together at the Houston zoo and Herman Park.

When Aaron decided to propose, he took Megan to the place they had their first date: the zoo. This seems so appropriate because this couple is so laid back, so delightfully funny, and so FUN. Aaron hid the engagement ring in a Carmex container. And when Megan told him she had chapped lips and needed the Carmex, he had to ignore her and leave her with painfully chapped lips! He finally did give her the much needed chapstick and a ring to cherish forever.

Aaron and Megan have incredibly open and generous hearts. This is easily seen in Aaron’s close relationships to his parents and brother. As soon as you meet eyes with him, an infectious grin lights up his face. He is perfectly paired with Megan, a nurse at Dell Children’s Hospital. He easily fell for Megan’s free spirit and enormous heart. Like Aaron, Megan is also close with her family, and her sisters and mom surrounded her with support on her wedding day, tending to her every need. Her dad had me giggling with his Friends references and dedication of the Friends theme song for Megan.

Considering Aaron has his wedding ring engraved with the phrase “mutual weirdness,” it is no surprise that the two of them are full of laughter together. However, the tears also flowed freely. As Megan wrote the last words she wanted Aaron to read before they wed, I watched a single tear stream silently and lightly down her cheek to the tip of her nose. Aaron’s reaction to Megan on the aisle was priceless. He threw up his hands, and then tears flowed as he seemed in complete awe of Megan as she walked toward him.

Even though my weather app had straight rain predicted for the day, Sunday, April 17, started off simply overcast. We were hopeful that an outdoor ceremony would be possible. However, half an hour before the ceremony began, dark clouds crept in and let loose downpour that was heavy. Like, no-matter-which-way-you-hold-the-umbrella, you-are-going-to –get-soaked heavy. Like, flash flood heavy. Through the booming thunder, Megan and Aaron kept their cool and focused on what was most important to them: they were getting married. Vista West Ranch quietly and rapidly moved into Rain Plan, and set up a gorgeous ceremony inside their bohemian, rustic barn. Although we were inside, the set up was absolutely stunning. Following the portraits, I noticed it was merely drizzling outside. Megan and Aaron were gracious enough to brave the wet weather, and we were able to capture their couple’s portraits beneath the beautiful arbor with florals by King Florist of Austin.

It was a gorgeous day despite the rain. It almost feels like the weather outside brought Megan and Aaron’s friends and family in closer, all bonded together safe while the rain ran its course outside. There is no way the rain could put a damper on the special moments in the day.

Aaron stunned guests with a heartfelt serenade for Megan. She was serenaded one more time by her sisters, who relived their childhood memories with Megan through song. After the Friends theme song dedication, I watched Megan look to her father, and though I was yards away, I could read her lips as she said, “I love you so much.” The couple opted to donate funds that would have been spent on wedding favors to their favorite organizations. They asked guests to place the coin from their place settings in a jar for either Austin Pets Alive or the Camp Blessing, the camp where they first met.

Megan and Aaron, from when I shot your engagement session, I knew there was something special about you. You radiate kindness and warmth and make those around you feel loved. Best wishes to you both as you begin your lives together.
