Three amazing things about Mallory and Grady: 1. The couple celebrated their engagement by FLYING! Grady is a pilot, and the day he proposed to Mallory, they hopped in a plane, and he flew them to the coast to celebrate. 2. Mallory is not changing her name! When they first met, they were surprised to find out they both have the same last name—the very common, Hughes! Her father joked that he did extensive ancestry research. 😉 And 3. Mallory and Grady have the BIGGEST bridal party I have ever photographed! They had 16 bridesmaids and 15 groomsmen! Not to mention the cutest little flower girl and cutest little ring bearer!
While these points are unique, I would argue that this couple’s presence and love for each other greatly overshadow the amazing facts about them. Mallory and Grady are caring and gentle and loving with one another. They radiate joy and absolutely light up when they see each other. They both possess a quiet confidence and sense of calm, a characteristic that is only amplified when they are together.
Mallory and Grady chose to wed at the home of Mallory’s parents, a property that belonged to Mallory’s grandparents before them. It is an incredibly piece of land, tucked away in Bastrop’s infamous pine trees, at the tip top of a hill overlooking the town below. It has become a place where dances and reunions and celebrations of all kinds have been held. It has also become a safe haven for Mallory and Grady to escape their busy lives in Houston.
The couple transformed the property from relaxed pool party to elegant evening celebration! Against the backdrop of the pines and stunning views were ivory tables adorned with white blooms and lush greenery. The line of chairs for the ceremony began at the house and sloped down to a stunning arbor overlooking the trees and views. The sun shone brightly on their wedding day, cooling off just in time for dancing on their custom dancefloor under trees lit with sparkly lights and lanterns.
The sweetest couple on the happiest day of their lives….The most beautiful trees and views and sunlight…. To say photographing this day was a dream would be an understatement. Mallory and Grady, it was an honor. I hope every time you return to Mallory’s parents’ house you remember the joy and love of your wedding day. Thank you so very much and I wish you all the best!!!
