When I first met Katie and Tom at the Vista West Ranch Open House, I knew I wanted to work with them immediately! Katie is a third grade teacher in at the same district where I used to work. This Type A, organized, energetic gal was immediately speaking my language! Tom is so incredibly kind and laid back—the guy knows how to cut a rug too!!!
Katie and Tom attended the same college, Hendrix College, where they engaged in a bit of Ultimate Frisbee together. While they remained friends during their university years, they reconnected afterward and had their first date at 1424 Café in Waco, Texas. Katie was actually unsure if it was actually a date at all, but the two immediately recognized the potential between them when the conversation continued to flow for two hours. Katie charmed Tom with her upbeat personality, and also got major bonus points by bringing along her cute dog, Yogi!
Tom thoughtfully planned his proposal in an apple orchard. They couple enjoyed Torchy’s Tacos before heading off an adventure to pick apples for their Thanksgiving pie, or so Katie thought. Amidst the apple trees, Katie discovered a tiny box hidden in the branches. As he proposed, Tom explained that the apple orchard was significant for two reasons: it was a nod to Katie’s profession as a teacher and it is also a nod to his last name, Newton (and Newton’s law of gravity). After Katie said HECK YES, the pair headed off to celebrate with their families who waited at a nearby restaurant.
Katie and Tom planned their June wedding at Vista West Ranch, and while it was warm outside (obviously), the gorgeous reception hall offered an amazing respite from the heat. Katie is slightly obsessed with rose gold, as you can easily see with rose gold vases and all her pretty Kendra Scott jewelry! Not to mention—that ring Tom gave her is gorgeous! I love that Katie and Tom also incorporated their love of nature—they gave succulents to their guests as favors, and during the ceremony, they planted a tree together.
It was a celebration of family as Katie and Tom were surrounded by their loved ones. My weak spot is babies, so I was perhaps a bit obsessed with Katie and Tom’s nephew, Nolan! Their friends and family brought all the warmth and love and DANCE MOVES.
Katie and Tom, I am so very happy for you as you begin your lives as a married couple! It was such a delight to work with you!!! Congratulations!
