It was a sweltering Fourth of July when Ky and Kayley first met each other. They were at the birthday party of a mutual friend, and the pair immediately connected. When Ky made plans at his family’s ranch on the Frio Rio soon after, he extended an invitation to Kayley, and that weekend solidified the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
We photographed Kayley and Ky’s engagement session on the Guadalupe River, at the home of Ky’s childhood friend. It was there Ky had spent hours and hours fly fishing and soaking up the gorgeous Texas sunshine. The river was the perfect location to begin the couple’s session because it also represents the conscious decision they made to spend life together, and enjoy the beauty of nature around them.
While Kayley was in nursing school, Ky’s engineering position took him from place to place, and Kayley and Ky soon realized how badly they wanted to be together, and live a calmer life in one place. Ky decided to return to his hometown of New Braunfels where he was able to land a job perfect for him, and Kayley joined him there as well, commuting to San Antonio for her nursing job. The couple thrive on adventure, and their engagement session which began with a hike in the river and ended with beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country from Canyon Lake Dam, reflected that perfectly.
Kayley and Ky, your engagement session was a wonderful adventure, and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in the fall!
