Marissa and Cody first met freshman year at Baylor University when their friends introduced them in one of the dining halls. Cody’s sense of humor stood out to Marissa, and she loved how friendly and cute he was. Cody definitely wanted to get know Marissa better when he met her; he thought she was cute and a little on the shy side.
Before Christmas break, Cody asked Marissa on their first date. He took her to a movie and a hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant in Waco called Baris, a place that has come to be very special for them. The two kept up the romance over Christmas break with texts here and there and officially became a couple that February.
Marissa is currently a Physician’s Assistant student at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Upon completing her first semester in December 2015, Cody took Marissa out to celebrate. At least that’s what he told her—all the while, he was planning the perfect proposal to sweep her off her feet.
Cody took her to one of her favorite date spots, the Dallas Aquarium, and then had planned to propose outside at a park near down town Dallas. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse, so Cody had to change plans. He had a crew of friends work quickly to decorate his apartment with candles and lights. He told Marissa the dinner reservation was a bit later, so they should just go relax at his apartment until it was time to go out. He stunned Marissa with the decorated apartment, wine and dinner, and a picture book that documented from when they first met up until that very point. That was surprise number one! Surprise number two happened when he took Marissa to her apartment where all of their friends and family awaited, eager to help celebrate.
The weather on this sweet couple’s wedding day was not exactly ideal, with twenty degree weather blowing in! The previous day saw temperatures near eighty degrees, so Texas was really throwing us for a loop! However, the sun shone brilliantly on their wedding day, and Canyonwood Ridge offered a gorgeous indoor ceremony and reception site that kept their friends and family warm and cozy. When we talked about heading outside into the cold, I was surprised to find Marissa and Cody had excited looks on their faces! We captured sunlit couple’s photos that overlooked the view of the Texas Hill Country. We also put Marissa’s grandmother’s mink to good use as she wore it for some special photographs.
Marissa and Cody, thank you so much for having me capture your beautiful day!!
