When Sam found out her sister Meg gave her number to a random guy, she was furious! And Dave did just seem like a random guy at first. After all, Sam barely knew him! They originally met at a guitar hero party ten years ago, and she although she recalls being impressed by Dave’s skills, nothing much came from the meeting. Two years later, the pair met again at a Buffalo Bills game—they are both from Buffalo, New York—and Dave asked if Sam remembered him. (Of course she did!!) Like the guitar hero party, their encounter was brief. However, sparks must have flown, because a whole year after the football game, Dave ran into Sam’s sister Meg and was compelled to ask her for Sam’s phone number. Finally, after a pretty bold move on Dave’s part, the two connected. Sam quickly realized that Dave was more than a random guy with mad guitar hero skills; he’s supportive and romantic and driven. Dave was impressed by Sam’s smarts and loving, compassionate nature. Sam and Dave moved to Austin where Sam is an ICU nurse and Dave is a law student at St. Mary’s. They spend their free time with their Boston terrier, Maisie, enjoying the outdoor lifestyle Austin has to offer.
I love that Dave’s efforts to propose were foiled by Sam and her desire for… a NAP! Dave was so excited after purchasing Sam’s engagement ring that he wanted to propose instantly, and he promptly made a dinner reservation for their favorite restaurant, Clark’s, in Austin. How perfect that Sam even got off early from work that day! With dreams of an Austin proposal, Dave enthusiastically planned a proposal by the “I love you so much” mural. However, Sam, anticipating a long flight to New York the next day, opted for a nap instead.
Dave did not let himself be discouraged by his sleepy fiancé-to-be, and organized an even more perfect proposal at one of Sam’s favorite spots: the French exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. When they paused at the French exhibit, Sam, a cardiac nurse, noticed Dave’s racing pulse when she hugged him, and nearly dragged him outside to get him to calm down. Dave blamed his rapid heartbeat on the espresso he drank, and then tried to pose Sam for a photo in front of the exhibit. That’s when he swooped in and ask her to marry him.
For their engagement session, we headed to a park with pretty nature and pretty light, where we could focus on Sam and Dave’s love for each other. They were total models, and seem to have fun with each other no matter what they are doing. Sam and Dave, I am so happy I’ve met you, and I can’t wait for your spring wedding!
