Mutual friends brought Michael and Amanda together when they were students at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Amanda noticed immediately how cute Michael was and wanted to date him because of his easy going, fun personality. Michael was equally enamored, struck by Amanda’s good looks and intelligence.
In October of 2014, Amanda, Michael, and their pup, Dash, took Christmas card photos in Sewell Park in San Marcos. They adore the park for its magnolia trees. On April 11, 2015, after Amanda was preparing for a competition and recital at the dance studio where she worked, she returned home to find Michael had special plans for them. He insisted they take Dash for a walk at Sewell Park. Among the magnolia trees, he dropped to one knee and put a beautiful ring on Amanda’s finger.
When I photographed Amanda’s bridals, I had the opportunity to meet Amanda’s sister, Allison, her mom, and her father. I chatted with her father as Amanda prepared, and we got to talking about life raising two girls, and a serious, reflective expression crossed his face. He emphasized how amazing his girls are, and how they have been loving and kind. It is obvious that family is incredibly important to both Amanda and Michael, evident in how attentive to their family members they were throughout their wedding day. While there was dancing and mayhem–Michael’s dad sure can cut a rug!!–I always saw Amanda, Michael, or their siblings, huddled around their seated grandparents, making sure they knew how special they are.
Amanda and Michael wed on October 8, 2016, and we were finally experiencing the long awaited cool and crisp fall weather. With bridesmaids in cobalt, and groomsmen in dark gray, they held an elegant yet rustic celebration. Their First Look was incredibly sweet: Michael could not stop kissing Amanda and just pulled her in close. There was no shortage of dancing with former Kilgore Rangerette, Amanda, and plenty of other Rangerettes in attendance!
Amanda and Michael, thank you so very much for having me capture your beautiful memories together!
